Numbers and this reductive tendency seem to be much of the source of our troubles, and thus can hardly be a good measure of a solution to them. I wonder whether you've read through the "Report by the Commission on the Measurement of Economic Performance and Social Progress" authored by Stiglitz, Sen, and Fitoussi?
