Proverb of the week IV

Better a little with the fear of the LORD
    than great wealth with turmoil.
Better a meal of vegetables where there is love
than a fattened calf with hatred.                           - Proverbs 15.16-17

What's wrong with vegetabes, anyway?

Unfortunately, Solomon in all his wisdom didn't seem to be aware of the massive water use and carbon emissions associated with beef production, nor would he have had access to the many delicious vegetables from South America, leading to a meat bias. Sigh.

A vegetarian friend of mine used to quote this verse without realising that it's based on the assumption that meat is superior.
