Becoming friends with Kevin
Kevin Rudd, leader of the opposition, now has a Facebook account. Someone is trying hard to win the young 'uns.
Speaking of which, of course it would be our most media savvy bishop, the Right Reverend Robert Forsyth, who would be the first episcopal face of Sydney Anglicanism on Facebook.
Also no prizes for noting that Kevin's picture goes on the left, and the good bishop's on the right. Rob interviewed us on 2CH on Sunday night (he also married us seven years ago) and during the ads confessed his interest in Facebook.
Images from their respective Facebook profiles.

Kevin's picture extends significantly into the centre as well. Just to show how bipartisan I am, I've friend-ed them both.
I friend-ed Kevin last week, but 'he' has not yet recriprocated (I say 'he' in inverted commas, since I'm sure it's his office doing it rather than him personally)
Oh Tim, you cynic. I'm sure Kevin enjoys some good internet downtime as much as the next man. Or if he is using a proxy, then it's his little contribution to the economy.
Or maybe 'he' has not responded because he knows where you work... :-)
All the more reason to be-friend me!
My mum got in before Forsyth did. And she is an episcopal spouse...
if a bishop, a mum and a politician are on it - has it jumped the shark?
There are also three John Howard's on it (well, there are more, but there are three with the details and photo of the Prime Minister of Australia)
All the more reason to be-friend me!
Exactly - maybe 'he' doesn't know where you work...

28 million profiles, plus another 150,000 each day. 17th highest traffic on the net. Estimated to be worth US$8 billion. If popularity makes it passé, then it's long gone.
Is it a good thing that I am reluctant to jump into facebook?
The BBC had an interesting article about paying people to use facebook yesterday: Are my online friends for real?.
Yes it is good to be reluctant with a 'cyper-cult' like facebook. I registered, then un-registered when I realised the full horror.
The bandwidth is wide, my friends ...
An article in Crikey said that they contacted Kevin Rudd's office, who said that they were aware of but not responsible for the 'Kevin Rudd' presence on Facebook.
Facebook is so yesterday
Just wanted to get in early. Bringing you the news before it breaks.
Kevin and John Howard are friends on my MySpace, sadly I think neither are actually those people. (The day I found out that the Larry Emdur friend I added on myspace was a fraud, I was gutted)
