Two Ways to Die

There are only two ways possible of encountering Jesus: man must die or he must put Jesus to death.

Interestingly this comes from an especially cross (as in confrontational) section of the lecture. Bonhoeffer describes Christ as Gegenlogos (counter rationality) who refuses to be grasped by the human mind. In reference to the efforts of liberals of the late 19th century it is fair enough but not and especially friendly image.
