MacDonald on contentment
"Let me, if I may, be ever welcomed to my room in winter by a glowing hearth, in summer by a vase of flowers; if I may not, let me then think how nice they would be, and bury myself in my work. I do not think that the road to contentment lies in despising what we have not got. Let us all acknowledge all good, all delight that the world holds, and be content without it."

Nice little post there. I'm preaching on 1 Timothy at the moment, and it captures some of the the ideas in 1 Tim 4:4, 6:6-10 and 6:17-19.
Cheers
mmm. blue sky... wow!
For those whom we haven't had the pleasure of welcoming into our home, the pic is our view out our balcony overlooking Camperdown. The sky is a typical Sydney sky. But not a typical English one (though there are occasional exceptions).
George is the one who at so many times has somehow created this space into which I could enter and say to myself "Ok, self, if being in this space constitutes being-a-Christian, then I can still be a Christian" when I felt completely not-at-home in all other spaces the occupation of which constituted "being-a-Christian" Thankyou for the quote!
that quote has gone straight the fridge (the intellectual/spiritual equivalent of the pool room)
Great quote. Now to be content because I thought I was finally going to get some points for guessing where the picture was taken ... but alas it is not to be!
Poppies were courtesy of the Pagets. See also here.
I'm glad others enjoyed that quote as much as I did.
Oops, try for Paget here.
Mandy: sorry. Glad I help you practice contentment.
