Pop-ups

In the fascinating discussion generated by my previous post, Michael mentioned in passing that he gets pop-up advertisements when he comes to this blog. Some others said they also experienced this, while yet others said they didn't. I am very sorry if you experience these, as they are annoying (like spam). Please be assured that I have not invited such consumerism and am trying to work out how to get rid of them. Anyone know how to do this?

Some web browsers have a function that blocks pop-ups. You might like to turn yours on if you have it and if they are a problem for you.

I should mention, Byron, that my pop-up blocker doesn't prevent the pop-up ads on your site. Further, it seems to be a recent phenomenon, as if someone has managed to hack your site and attach some code that does this.

I would complain to Blogger among other things.

Thanks for all your efforts and your great work, pal.

byron--yeah, it's doing it to me too. That's a bummer. But at least people told you about it, so you can address it. And at least it's not pornography. One of my favorite authors, Annie Dillard, actually paid to buy her domain name (anniedillard.com) because some complete loser bought, posted raunchy stuff on it, and then got in touch with her and basically said "hey, you want to make this stop? I'll sell you the domain name."
