GM chief admits peak oil

Front page of today's SMH: of course, no hint from GM that the future might involve less reliance on cars.

...because it mightn't. I would have thought that they will be trying as hard as they can to meet the demand for new types of car. I don't think we are going to give up the car, though the fuel source may change radically.

Of course they will, that's their job and I wouldn't expect anything else from them. But at the moment, the future of energy is looking increasingly expensive. Alternatively fuelled cars may simply be beyond the wallet of most people. My guess is that over the long term we'll see more bikes and an a renewed investment in public transport, as well as a trend towards localisation.

yeah i saw that article- interesting that the ariticle was more about a plug for electric cars than it was for peak oil and the implications...

Interesting to look at oil price rises over that 15 years too...them price increaese ain't just about inflation i tells ya...
