SMH: Ground zero mosque is an antidote to extremism: "The argument goes that it should be moved because a large proportion of Americans associate it with the terrorist attacks. This is despite Abdul Rauf's vision being a symbol of reconciliation and interfaith dialogue, offering prayer spaces for Jews and Christians and a multi-faith memorial for the victims of September 11. The imam hopes to counter radical ideology, motivated by the reasonable proposition that ''Muslim radicals are the problem, Muslim moderates are the solution''.
"Apparently, this is insufficient. Muslims are often accused of failing to condemn extremism, yet one of the most constructive proposals seen in the fight against extremism is met with suspicion and opposition."
"I'm peeved about that mosque."
